INSTALLATION PROCESS

Proper installation is key to the performance of the CMCE Lightning Suppressor. As a certified installer, you'll be trained to meet the unique requirements for either structures or vessels, ensuring optimal protection for every project.

BUILDINGS

For structures of all sizes, the CMCE must be installed at least 3 to 6 feet above the highest point of the building. The device is mounted using a 1.5" aluminum or galvanized steel pipe, which may be attached in a variety of ways depending on the structure:

Roof-mounted using a tripod or roof bracket
Side-mounted to the structure
Attached to an adjacent object like a tree or flagpole

Grounding is a critical part of the installation. The CMCE must be connected to an existing or newly installed Delta ground system using a 1/0 copper wire, achieving a ground resistance of less than 5 ohms. When necessary, a new ground system should be created to meet this requirement.

VESSELS

The CMCE must be installed at the highest point of the vessel, exceeding at least 1 foot above any existing equipment or antennas. VHF can be wrapped in heat shrink and the CMCE installed at the highest point, below VHF. The CMCE's support mast of 1.5" galvanized steel should be mounted to a pole that is attached to mast. A single straight ground wire run is optimal, using 4 AWG. Grounded to the vessel's busbar, anodes, or a grounding place.

INSTALLER REQUIREMENTS

To qualify to become a CMCE Certified Installer, applicants must first meet the following criteria:

Be a licensed electrician or electrical contractor in your state or country
Possess proof of liability insurance
At least 5 years of experience working in residential, commercial, and/or marine industries
Be comfortable working at heights
Must be willing to travel 1-2 hours away for installations

Ongoing technical support and marketing materials will be provided to all certified partners.
